Brief history of our team
Jansen Snyman - Founder Director
Jansen Snyman grew up in Bloemfontein and moved to Johannesburg in 1986, after serving articles in Bloemfontein and George.
He became a director in a well-known law firm in 1988 and in the late '80's, early 90's acted on behalf of the local councils of the then Greater Soweto, in the process of converting leasehold to freehold, to provide ownership of property in those areas to the individual citizens.
Jansen has always had a passion for property and in 1995 became a founder director of Snymans Incorporated.

Roy Kapp - Director
Roy was born in Uitenhage (Port Elizabeth) and lived virtually everywhere. During primary school, they moved to Namibia. Most of his high school years he spent at Delportshoop High School in the Northern Cape.
He completed his studies at
Bloemfontein and finished his LLB at RAU in 1994
He worked in the Deeds Office for a couple of years and started on his own in 1995. He joined Snymans Incorporated soon after.
Roy is the director at the Krugersdorp Office where the main focus is transfers.
He is well known for:

Making his knowledge readily available to his clients through his approachable manner
Roy is married to Leona and they have 2 boys. He enjoys cycling and the outdoors.

Stephen Smith - Director Durban Office
Stephen graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Durban campus in 1982 with a B.Com and LLB degrees. After completing his articles, he went on to be appointed a director of what then was one of Durban’s largest law firms. Several years later he ventured out as a sole practitioner, qualifying as a conveyancer and as a Notary Public, and has practised as such until he joined forces with Snymans and is the resident Director in control of their Durban offices.Stephen has extensive experience in civil and commercial law and has chosen to focus his expertise in the field of property law. His passion is to provide innovative but sound solutions to meet the demanding requirements of clients and believes that success in practise will come about through service excellence.
Stephen is married and has a son. He is an avid motorcycle enthusiast and particularly enjoys off-road adventures on his motorcycle or in his 4x4 with his family. Although not as active as he once was, as a qualified dive-master, he rounds off his outdoors experience with SCUBA.

Mariette van Zyl - Associate Director
Mariette grew up in Pretoria and matriculated in 1998 at Akasia High School. She finished her LLB at the University of Pretoria and did her articles during which time her main focus was on debt collection and sequestration in the Sectional Title field.
She also gained experience in other fields such as Magistrates Court and High Court litigation and property law.
Mariette was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer in 2004 and started with Snymans in 2005 where she and her team currently specialize in the following:

Townships and township establishment, proclamation and transfers to end users

Opening of Sectional Title registers, conversions to Sectional Title and transfers to end users

Subdivision and Consolidation of erven, and subsequent transfers to end users
Mariette enjoys the
outdoors and reading and a good movie. She also enjoys socialising with
special friends. She is also an admitted Notary.

Diaan Van Wyk - Associate
Diaan matriculated at Roodepoort High School and completed his studies at the University of Johannesburg.He also has a passion for sport and until recently played provincial cricket.
Diaan was admitted as an attorney early in 2008 and is currently establishing the satellite office in Celtisdal, Centurion. He is responsible for the marketing, administration and management of this office.
He was admitted as a conveyancer in September 2008

Clive Smith - Associate
Clive matriculated at Northcliff High School where he also coached cricket during his studies.He played cricket in England as an overseas professional and also worked as a teacher's aid and sport co-ordinator at a well known school in Kent.
He completed his studies at the University of Johannesburg. He started his articles at Snymans Incorporated in 2005, during which time he also completed his LLB degree. He passed both his board and conveyancing examinations in the course of two years.
Clive currently heads up the satellite office in Randburg. He focuses on the management of the office as well as preparation and signing off of all documents. He also embarks on marketing and arbitration activities.
His aim is to be admitted as a notary within the next year. He was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer in March 2008.
