Brief history of our team
Jansen Snyman - Founder Director
Jansen Snyman grew up in Bloemfontein and moved to Johannesburg in 1986, after serving articles in Bloemfontein and George.
He became a director in a well-known law firm in 1988 and in the late '80's, early 90's acted on behalf of the local councils of the then Greater Soweto, in the process of converting leasehold to freehold, to provide ownership of property in those areas to the individual citizens.
Jansen has always had a passion for property and in 1995 became a founder director of Snymans Incorporated.
His main attributes include the following:

- He is approachable and quality service orientated
Under his guidance Snymans became a well-known, preferred property-law firm.
Jansen is married to Esther and has 3 sons.

Roy Kapp - Director
Roy was born in Uitenhage (Port Elizabeth) and lived virtually everywhere. During primary school, they moved to Namibia. Most of his high school years he spent at Delportshoop High School in the Northern Cape.
He completed his studies at Bloemfontein and finished his LLB at RAU in 1994
He worked in the Deeds Office for a couple of years and started on his own in 1995. He joined Snymans Incorporated soon after where he helped guide the firm to become the preferred property-law firm it is today.
Roy is well known for:
Maintaining close relationships with his clients
His expert knowledge of property law
Making his knowledge readily available to his clients through his approachable manner
Roy is married to Leona and they have 2 boys. He enjoys cycling and the outdoors.
Mariette van Zyl - Associate Director - Operations Manager
Mariette grew up in Pretoria and matriculated in 1998 at Akasia High School. She finished her LLB at the University of Pretoria and completed her articles in Hatfield, Pretoria during which time her main focus was on debt collection and sequestration in the Sectional Title field, which atributed in her gaining much experience in Property Law.
Mariette was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer in 2004 and joined Snymans in 2005 where she headed up the developments department for the first few years. In 2006 she was also admitted as a Notary and completed a diploma in Drafting and Interpretation of Contracts at UJ in 2010.
Her involvement in the Snymans group has since grown to such an extent that she now oversees all 4 bank panels throughout the Snymans group which includes managing performance, training, liaising with the banks and managing compliance.
Further to the above Mariette is responsible for inhouse training and manages and oversees all systems necessary to keep production levels in the group to optimised levels.
Mariette travels between the 4 Snymans offices to ensure a hands on approach to her responsibilities.
Mariette considers her family as her number one priority and stays in Pretoria to ensure that she can spend as much time with them as possible. She enjoys the outdoors, reading and a good movie.
Diaan Van Wyk - Associate Director
Diaan matriculated at Roodepoort High School in 1999 and completed his LLB studies at the University of Johannesburg. He was admitted as an Attorney and Conveyancer in 2008. He also completed a diploma in the Drafting and Interpretation of contracts in 2010. Throughout his Secondary, Tertiary and career he has showed remarkable leadership skills and innovative approaches to both life and business.
Diaan is currently heading the Centurion office. Under his leadership it has grown from being a satellite office to being a successful, established office in less than five years. He is responsible for the marketing, administration and overall management of this office.
Diaan has a passion for sport and the outdoors and his sense of adventure is evidence of his zest for life. His dedicated involvement with Gauteng Cricket has made him a beloved figure as player and organizer.
Diaan is a positive and hardworking young man who believes that success is at the fingertips of everyone, but only those who desire it the most will obtain it! He lives by the motto .. You are who you are because of the books you read, places you travel to and the people you spend time with!!
Clive Smith - Associate Director
Clive is a born and bred “Joburger” and matriculated at Northcliff High School.
He completed his studies at the University of Johannesburg (formerly RAU) including a BA Law Degree with a major in Psychology, his LLB degree and a post-graduate qualification in Sports Law.
Also a serious sportsman, he has played cricket abroad. Diaan and Clive incidentally have played in many of the same teams over the years which has now extended to their professional careers at Snymans Inc.
Clive currently manages the Randburg and Fourways offices. He focuses on the management of the offices as well as embarking on marketing, training and arbitration activities.
He is an admitted Attorney, Notary and Conveyancer.
Armand Coetzee – Associate Director
After matriculating at Grey College Bloemfontein, Armand obtained his B.Com-Law and LLB degrees at the University of the Free State in 2000 and 2002 respectively. Upon completing his articles in 2003 he moved to Johannesburg and currently resides in Fourways. Armand was admitted as a conveyancer in August 2005 and as a notary public in November 2005. He also obtained the diploma in drafting and interpreting of contracts at the University of Johannesburg in 2009.
Armand currently heads up the firm’s head office, based in Ruimsig, Mogale City, where he is actively involved in the production operations but also carries the responsibility of marketing the Ruimsig branch. He therefore spends many hours networking with clients. This office has a staff compliment of seventeen people, made up by attorneys, paralegals, support staff and a consultant. Armand also has relative good experience in litigation and commercial law, although he is not actively practising in these fields at present.
Armand strives for client satisfaction and always reminds his staff that communication to the various role players is a key factor in achieving suitable levels of service. He completely bought into the Snymans mission statement: “befriending clients through service excellence” and believes that this is key to the success of Snymans through the years. He is always open to suggestions on how to improve on communication channels.
As a dedicated family man Armand enjoys spending time with his wife and baby daughter. He is a keen golfer and enjoys sport.
Annemarie Griffin – Professional Assistant
Annemarie Griffin grew up in Krugersdorp and matriculated at Monument High School in 1989. Thereafter she obtained her B.Proc degree at the Potchefstroom University in 1993. During the period 1994 until 2005 Annemarie worked in the Local Government sphere, involved with property development in previously disadvantaged areas and labour related issues. She further completed a post graduate diploma in Labour Law at the University of Johannesburg.
She joined the Snymans Group in 2006, working in the development department. During 2009 she assisted in establishing the new satelite office in Fourways. Annemarie was admitted as an Attorney and Conveyancer in 2010 and is currently situated at the Krugersdorp office.
Annemarie has a passion for conveyancing, but lives a balanced lifestyle, making time to tend to her family. She is an avid reader and nature hugger.
Janene Mocke – Professional Assistant
Janene was born in Pretoria and matriculated in Vanderbijlpark in 2004. She graduated with a BCom: Law degree in 2007 and with a LLB degree in 2009 at the University of Pretoria, after which she served her articles of clerkship in 2010 with Snymans Incorporated. In her final year on university she was admitted by the Law Clinic for Practical Law as an elective, gaining valuable experience in various civil matters, and attended to underprivileged citizen’s legal problems. In 2008 she received a Golden Key Honour Society award, awarded to the top 15% of students at the University of Pretoria, based on academic merit.
On the 15th of February 2011 she was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer and on the 4th of October 2011 as a Notary Public. After completion of her articles she was appointed as a conveyancer at the Centurion branch of Snymans Incorporated where she attends to the production management, focusing on production quality and customer service.
Janene is married to Nicky Mocke, she loves the outdoors, and values time spend with her family, especially at the camp fire.
Stacey Barnard – Professional Assistant
Stacey matriculated from St Andrew’s High School in 2001 where after she completed her LLB degree at the University of Johannesburg (formerly RAU), graduating in 2006. Stacey completed her articles at a firm in Hyde Park, Johannesburg where she obtained experience in many fields of law, including litigation, commercial law, family law and criminal law. Stacey was admitted as an Attorney in 2008 and subsequently decided to expand her work experience into different areas, she obtained an internationally recognised coaching qualification as a life and business coach and spent time implementing high-level interventions on a strategic and leadership level. This experience has given her significant insights into the skills needed to be effective in the development and interaction with people on a daily basis in all environments.
Stacey started at Snymans in 2011 and has since been admitted as a conveyancer and will be completing her Notary qualification before the end of 2012. Stacey is based at the Randburg branch and also assists on a part-time basis at the Fourways office.
On a personal note, Stacey is a competitive sports person in both team and individual sports and has also obtained a Diploma in Exercise Science.
Samantha van Blerk – Professional Assistant
Samantha completed her LLB degree at UJ in 2008 from where she attended Law school in 2009. Here she obtained practical knowledge on all aspects of litigation law, as well as a certificate for trial advocacy. In 2010 to 2011 she completed her articles at a firm in Rosebank, where she obtained specialized knowledge about the Consumer Protection Act, National Credit Act, Commercial Litigation, extensive knowledge in Law of Contract, specialized knowledge in Landlord and Tenant Law and attended to Debt Collection litigation. During this period, she gave presentations on the CPA and also wrote opinions for Council on the CPA as well as the NCA.
Samantha joined Snymans Inc on 2 May 2012 as litigation attorney with emphasis on all fields of property and commercial law.
Samantha enjoys swimming and writes poetry and novels in her free time. She gives expression to her artistic side by painting, sketching and is very interested in the psychology behind the humand mind.
Jean-Mari de Beer – Professional Assistant
Jean-Mari grew up in Krugersdorp and matriculated from Hoërskool Noordheuwel in 2004. She obtained her B.Com Law in Business Management in 2008 and LLB in 2010 from the North West University , Potchefstroom Campus and will finish her LLM in Estate Planning in the early part of 2013.
Jean-Mari did her articles at Snymans and was admitted as an attorney in 2012 and will be admitted as a conveyancer in October 2012. She is currently employed as a professional assistant at Snymans in Ruimsig.
